No Tigers in Sundarban!! Tigers of Sundarban are in the verge of extinction.
Tiger population in Sundarban is now less than 100!! If no initiative is taken then “The Royal Bengal Tiger” will disappear from Sundarban. On the other hand, in India’s famed sundarban tiger population increases by almost a third.
According
to a census program held on 2015, the number of tiger was only 106. Almost 2
years have past, so the population of
tiger is thought to be lower than 100 in present condition. Because the
condition for the existence for the tiger is so detrimental.
Researchers
said that in last ten years tiger population has decreased to half which is
very harmful for the ecosystem of Sundarban. They assume that hunters, sea transportation through river of the forest and industrial infrastructures
are the main threats of tiger existence in Sundarban. Recent incidence of
sinking of coal laden vessels in the rivers of sundarban has worsened the
ecosystem of this largest mangrove forest. Which has polluted the water and
thus it will effect the existence of the tiger.
Tiger
researcher Monirul Hasan Khan said, "To sustain the balance and existence
of Sundarban, survival of tigers are so important . Will have to take a strong
position against tiger hunters. If necessary, a joint venture of various law
enforcement agencies to stop these Poaching ".
Bangladesh
lagging behind in achieving the goal.
Royal
Bengal Tiger can be fond in Bangladesh, India, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar and
China. In 2010 tiger summit held in
Russia, a plan granted to double the number of tigers in the world. But
Bangladesh is failing to fulfill the goal and the number of tigers is
decreasing rapidly.
So, the
government as well as private organizations should come forward to save tigers
of Sundarban at any cost. A long term plan should be taken into account for
tiger conservation.
I have pointed out some initiatives which will be helpful for tiger conservation:
>Minimize conflict between humans and tigers so any situations that occur cannot be exploited by the
poachers and the chance of revenge killings is minimized
>Build partnerships with local people, who can help us monitor poaching activity
>Raise political support for wildlife crime legislation in the area
>Investigate poaching and wildlife crime to stop poachers before they enter the area
>Patrol the area to ensure that poachers are caught
>Remove all the snares being laid by poachers.
These aren't actions that are easy or simple to take. And the money needed to support this work reflects that.
